Centraal Museum Utrecht: more than 400 works and something new each time
The permanent Collectie Centraal brings together art, design, fashion and the history of the city. Graffiti and other temporary exhibitions are also on show this autumn.

Centraal Museum in Utrecht describes its remit as art, design, fashion and the history of the city. According to the museum, Collectie Centraal brings together more than 400 works from all parts of its collection.
The display includes Gerrit Rietveld’s Red and Blue Chair as a familiar favourite alongside lesser-known works. Fashion has its own space, with historical costumes and contemporary designs. According to the museum, the museum regularly brings works out of storage to change or enrich the display.

In the current programme, Graffiti runs from 10 October 2026 to 29 March 2027. The museum says the exhibition examines the relationship between graffiti and contemporary art. Godenschemering by Frans Franciscus runs until 22 November, while Sara Sejin Chang – TRANSMUTATION ends on 25 October.
According to the frequently asked questions, a museum ticket gives access to all exhibitions, although a surcharge may apply to some large shows. The ticket shop lists €18 for adults, €10.50 for students and CJP cardholders, and free admission for children aged twelve and under.
The museum is at Agnietenstraat 1 and, according to the museum, opens Tuesday to Sunday from 11:00 to 17:00. The museum mentions the nearby Vaartsche Rijn and Springweg car parks. Visitors planning to combine several sites will also find the Miffy Museum and the Rietveld Schröder House on the museum.
Collectie Centraal changes regularly as the museum adds or rotates works from storage.
