Fossils from several continents
The displays range from dinosaur eggs featured by RTV Drenthe to fossil megalodon teeth, and from amber containing insects to fossil fish. The fish come from Brazil, China and the United States; trilobites and dinosaur remains from Morocco; petrified wood from Madagascar; and ammonites from Germany, France and Madagascar.
Minerals, shells and jewellery
Minerals are displayed rough, as crystal clusters, cut and tumbled, and also as gemstone animal figures and decorative lights. The shells are mainly from tropical regions; North Sea specimens include crabs, lobsters and starfish. Silver rings, pendants, earrings, bracelets and brooches are set with minerals or gemstones.
Since 1981
Versteend Leven began in 1981 with a small collection of minerals and fossils. According to the farmhouse, it receives more than 50,000 visitors a year, including groups, coach parties and schools.
