The Dutch Grain Museum has occupied the former grain loft of the Woldzigt oil and corn mill in Roderwolde since 1974. Its collection includes grain varieties now seldom found in the Netherlands.

From sowing to bread

The small museum follows grain from sowing to harvest, from the grain exchange to the finished product. It holds a large collection of grain varieties and also covers oilseeds and flax growing. Bread and linoleum are displayed as finished products, alongside regional antiques and curiosities. Since 2024, the museum committee has worked on a new display during the winter months.

Eight cases about Het Drentse Landschap

Since spring 2023, the Het Drentse Landschap foundation, which owns the mill, has filled the temporary exhibition space on the north side with eight cases about its work and heritage.

A working mill from 1852

The industrial mill of 1852 has one section for linseed oil and another for flour; both still work. Woldzigt pressed oil and made linseed cakes until 1941/1942, longer than most oil mills. Traditional oil pressing is listed in the Netherlands’ Inventory of Intangible Heritage. One admission ticket covers the working mill and museum.

Into Nature

Until 25 October, Woldzigt’s Meulenkaomer is open to Into Nature visitors from Tuesday to Sunday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The former workers’ room hosts an exhibition by Marina Sulima.
