Art that begins with a place

Jij bent M. is a contemporary visual-art organisation exploring how people relate to the city, landscape and public space. Its programme takes place in Almere and elsewhere in Flevoland, in museum spaces and outdoors. Its permanent base is the Kunsthal at Kunstlinie in central Almere; Jij bent M. was previously at the Pavilion near Hortus.

Luchtspiegeling

Elsemarijn Bruys (born 1989) makes installations centred on visitors’ physical experience. In Luchtspiegeling, they move between and through works made with reflective materials, colour, air and movement. Admission is free every weekend from noon to 5 p.m. through 6 December 2026. During the Alluminous light-art festival (9–18 October), the venue opens daily from 7 to 10 p.m.; on Friday 16 October, Yentl Smeets performs Lichaam in het Licht three times.

Alluminous, Land Art and Kijkstof

During Alluminous, Jij bent M. turns flowing water along walls several metres high into a living painting of light and colour. On Saturday 10 October, during the autumn school holiday, there is a free mirror workshop for children aged two to twelve. The free Land Art Kidstour uses an app to visit three landscape artworks in Flevoland, and Kijkstof Expo follows six months of art in Almere.
