A 1950s house in Nagele
Visitors enter the house as its residents did, through the back door. The rooms evoke the lives of Annie and Bernard Polman, among the first residents of the Noordoostpolder. Visitors may sit in the armchair and look inside the cupboard. The new residents were surprised by the space and facilities such as running water, a toilet and a lavet: a deep washbasin of artificial stone, intended for laundry but also useful for bathing.
The only New Building village
Nagele is the only Dutch village built entirely according to the principles of the Nieuwe Bouwen architectural movement. It was designed by a group of architects and designers including Aldo van Eyck, Gerrit Rietveld, Jaap Bakema, Lotte Stam and Mien Ruys. Visitors can explore the village on loan bicycles. A combined ticket (€11) also gives admission to Museum Nagele.
Management
Huis Polman is a museum house run by the Hendrick de Keyser Monumenten association. It uses timed admission slots booked online.
