A kitchen bunker in the dunes
Descending the stairs, you encounter a visual account of Ameland's wartime history, with personal island stories, unusual finds, a diorama and a memorial room for war victims. The museum describes the experience as quiet, moving and impressive.
Entering without a host
At the entrance, a machine sells tickets for cash or by debit card. Scan the ticket and the door opens automatically. The museum also recommends the Hidden Bunkers excursion, a cycling trip past bunkers on Ameland's western side.
