Kasteeltuin en De Groene Schuur: traces in Culemborg

In the Kasteeltuin (Castle Garden) of Culemborg, a garden and an archaeological museum come together. De Groene Schuur shows finds that give a different view of the site.

Plan your visit ↗

From garden to find

You can start the visit in the garden and then look at the archaeological objects. A site gains an extra layer when you see what material is connected to it. Above all, ask which finds come from the immediate surroundings.

Looking at small fragments

Archaeological objects are not always complete. It is precisely a shard that invites close attention to material, shape and decoration. For children, an activity around ‘digging up’ shards is also mentioned; ask whether that is available during your visit.

A Saturday in season

The regular opening falls on Saturday afternoon from April to October inclusive. Outside these times, groups and guided tours are possible by appointment. On special days a wider programme may apply, but that requires a current announcement.

Before you go

Check the season, and make an appointment for a group visit outside Saturday afternoon.
