Start with the whole
First take the time to see how the buildings and spaces relate to each other. This gives the castle a context. The story of Hugo de Groot is one of the subjects you can then explore further inside.
Different visitors, different routes
For children there are trails and a playground. Those coming mainly for the exhibitions can reserve more time for them instead. It is wise to make a choice in advance, because the grounds and museum together can fill a lengthy visit.
Access and accessibility
An admission ticket is needed for the fortress and castle; museum café De Taveerne is also accessible without a museum ticket. There are facilities for wheelchair use to the first floor, but the lift platform has limited dimensions. Discuss suitable access in advance.
Before you go
Check events and closing days. If you use a wheelchair, ask about the dimensions and possibilities of the lift platform.
