Look at how an object is decorated and read what it was used for. Combining form and function helps you understand church heritage without knowing all the names beforehand.

Paraments and statues call for a different way of looking than metal vessels. Pay attention to material and imagery, and use the explanation to follow their place within the collection.
Choosing a guided tour
A guided visit may also include other parts of the church. Ask which route is offered and whether, for example, the atrium or burial vault is included; this does not automatically follow from access to the treasury.
Before you go
General opening is seasonal. Ask about stairs and access to the crypt and check the current days; the church being open does not guarantee that the treasury is always accessible.
