The Cuypershuis in Roermond was the home and workplace of architect Pierre Cuypers (1827–1921). The museum shows how drawing, craftsmanship and collaboration came together in his workshops. Cuypers designed buildings including the Rijksmuseum and Amsterdam Central Station.
From family home to museum
The permanent display Dichter bij Cuypers introduces the house and the architect’s working methods. In the family room, visitors can also see the reconstructed ceiling, restored using surviving photographs and drawings.
Van Maker tot Majesteit
The exhibition Van Maker tot Majesteit runs from 13 October 2026 to 27 June 2027. It follows Cuypers’s design for the Dutch Royal Throne, the work of craftspeople in his workshops and the throne’s later role on Prinsjesdag, the annual opening of parliament.
