Stadsmuseum Grave: fortress history in the Hampoort

Stadsmuseum Grave is housed in the Hampoort. The history of the town is made accessible there through a scale model, multimedia and changing exhibitions, among other things.

Plan your visit ↗

A gate as a museum venue

Pay attention to the building before diving into the displays. A town gate makes fortress history spatially tangible. Read which parts of the gate and the town rampart are explained during the visit, without seeing the whole structure as a single unchanged state.

Overview and depth

The scale model offers a different view from a film or an individual object. Use the overview first, then choose a subject from the galleries. A temporary exhibition can be an extra reason to come back.

Museum and knowledge centre

Het Graafs Geheugen also holds activities at another address, in the library. So check the location if you are coming for a talk. The museum keeps afternoon hours that start slightly later at the weekend. Wheelchairs, rollators and mobility scooters can be accommodated.

Before you go

Check current exhibitions and public holidays; talks may take place at another address.
