Oorlogsmuseum Ossendrecht: the Scheldt as a starting point

Oorlogsmuseum Ossendrecht collects uniforms, dioramas, vehicles and other objects relating to the Second World War. The Battle of the Scheldt gives this private collection a regional way in.

Plan your visit ↗

From uniform to use

With a uniform, look not only at its appearance but also at the explanation about the wearer and its use. Medical items and optics add other aspects to the collection. Together they invite you to distinguish different tasks within warfare.

A scene is a representation

Dioramas bring objects together in a depicted situation. See which elements make the scene understandable and read the accompanying explanation. That way you keep your attention on both the objects shown and the story the display tells with them.

More room for questions

A furnished bunker and a train unit are also part of what is on offer. If you want to see the elements in context, you can arrange a guided tour. Discuss in advance which subjects interest you, so that the regional history gets enough attention alongside the hardware.

Before you go

Regular opening is only one Saturday a month. Confirm other visits and accessibility in advance.
