Looking at a composition
The presentation is an artistic arrangement, not just a row of natural history specimens. Pay attention to posture, placement in relation to each other and colour, and to how together they guide your eye through a display.
Different forms together
Birds and reptiles are mentioned alongside large objects. Ask about the material and execution of a piece, so that it stays clear what exactly you are looking at and how the work was made.
The canal house as a setting
The rooms on the Herengracht give the installations a specific frame. When looking, also take distance and sightlines into account, rather than focusing only on striking details.
