A cat can take on different roles in a work of art. Pay attention to posture, gaze and position in the composition, and read what context the display gives to an image.

The collection description names Sal Meijer, Steinlen and Corneille, among others. If you are coming for a specific artist, you can ask about the current selection in advance; not every work mentioned will necessarily be on view at the same time.

The interior partly determines how you look at the art. Live cats are also mentioned, but their presence or contact with visitors is not a guaranteed part of the museum’s programme.
