A fort from the inside
Sleeping quarters, washrooms and the army kitchen show that a fort was also an everyday living environment. Look at the relationship between the spaces and their function. The chapel and prison add other sides to the building’s story.
Visiting the cupola separately
If you want to see the rotating armoured cupola, you need to choose a guided tour. Access to the fort on your own does not automatically include that option. Upstairs there are steep stairs with narrow steps, which makes the route physically more demanding.
A specific open day
Natuurmonumenten lists open days in 2026 up to and including 4 October, while an older guide mentions a later reopening. Use the site manager’s current calendar and book. Outside the open days, private guided tours depend on availability.
