Not the same clog everywhere
The collection as described includes Dutch and foreign versions. Compare the opening, the toe and the sole. These are specific parts where you can see differences, even without knowing straight away which country a clog comes from.
A maker at work
Demonstrations of clog-making by hand are offered on certain Wednesday afternoons. Pay particular attention to the order of the steps. Which shape emerges first, and when is the inside made? A demonstration can make clear much of what remains hidden in a finished clog.
The machine as an aid
Early clog-making machines are also part of what the museum offers. Ask which tasks they take over and which choices remain with the maker. That way you can compare a product with the tools behind it.
