Archeologiehuis Zuid-Holland: finds in a Roman villa

The Archeologiehuis Zuid-Holland in Alphen aan den Rijn displays archaeological finds in a reconstructed villa. It is next to Archeon, but has its own museum visit and ticket options.

Finds from the province

Objects from different periods portray South Holland. A dugout canoe and a wooden wine barrel raise different questions from smaller finds. Note where objects were found and how they were used, so that they stay connected to their archaeological background.

A villa as a display space

The building is a reconstruction based on an excavated villa, not an original preserved Roman house on this site. The Roman display downstairs and the other parts of the collection can therefore also be a reason to talk about reconstructions.

Choose the right combination

You can visit the Archeologiehuis on its own or combined with Archeon. Opening hours vary by day and need not match all the park’s activities. Check your ticket and entrance before planning a programme for the whole day.

Before you go

Check the museum’s own schedule and make a deliberate choice between a separate or combined visit.
