Kinderboekenmuseum: stories to play with

The Kinderboekenmuseum (Children’s Book Museum) in The Hague approaches books through play, characters and making up your own stories. The different parts are aimed at various ages, so it pays to check in advance what suits your party.

Plan your visit ↗

From character to story

The interactive set-up gives children starting points for exploring a book character or story world further. Let the available activities set the pace; not every part needs to match the same interests.

Telling something yourself

A story studio and a programme around Annie M.G. Schmidt are among the things mentioned. Check the current offer to see which parts are open and which age they suit, without expecting a fixed route for everyone.

Choosing a time slot

Booking online is compulsory, including with a Museumkaart (Dutch museum pass). The museum is still at the Prins Willem-Alexanderhof; the announced move to Utrecht is a future plan for the end of 2027.

Before you go

Check holiday opening and the current location before you set off. A report about the future move does not mean the museum in The Hague has already moved.
