Comparing three settings
The Zeezaal (Sea Hall), Havenzaal (Harbour Hall) and Rivierzaal (River Hall) give you a clear route. Note the differences the displays draw between these areas of work. You do not need to know all the technical terms in advance: start with the question of what task a tug performs in each setting.
More sides of the profession
A Bergingszaal (Salvage Hall) adds another subject. There are also spaces for film and changing exhibitions. On arrival, ask which parts are accessible at the time, so that you can tailor your visit to the current display.
Building and harbour separately
A visit to the museum is not automatically a visit to a tug. Separate arrangements are needed for combinations and group tours. The historic building has stairs and no lift; it is therefore not accessible to wheelchairs or to visitors with limited mobility.
Before you go
Check for closures around public holidays and exhibition changeovers. Discuss any combination with a ship in advance.
