Museumpark VONK: old crafts and new ideas

The Eindhoven museum park brings the former preHistorisch Dorp together with a new collection display. Participation is central from 17 to 25 October.

Museumpark VONK in Eindhoven builds on the former preHistorisch Dorp and Eindhoven Museum. Its historic farmsteads, buildings and costumed inhabitants remain; a new museum building adds an exhibition and a workshop.

Outside, history remains something to experience up close. The museum points to the inhabitants, historic buildings and activities familiar from the preHistorisch Dorp. In its World of Experience you can see how techniques and daily work took shape in other periods. VONK connects this with Eindhoven’s story, from the first spark to Eindhoven today.

Inside, the Kabinet van Verdieping displays objects from the former Eindhoven Museum collection, including pieces that had been kept in storage. The exhibition groups stories around cooperation: between people, between people and the landscape, and between people and technology. An interactive light installation invites visitors to form their own image of the past.

The workshop makes the idea of a museum still evolving tangible. VONK says visitors can think along, observe and help build an installation that will later have a place in the Garden of Wonder.

VONK has announced an autumn holiday programme from 17 to 25 October. Visitors can work together at a large loom and felt a woollen carpet. The interactive show Lumineus Inventorium premieres and, according to the museum, is scheduled daily at noon and 3 pm. Dutch Design Origins follows on 24 and 25 October, linking craft with contemporary design.

Museumpark VONK is at Boutenslaan 161 B. Regular hours are Tuesday to Sunday, 10 am–5 pm; it also opens on Monday during this autumn holiday. The museum lists the same daily hours for the holiday programme.
